Did you know that the average nursing mother burns 500 calories per day? That’s how Golden Globe winner Actress Rachel Weisz lost her baby weight “I don’t really have a magic potion or pill.”I do Pilates. Nursing burns a lot of calories, 500 calories a day. So, if I could help promote breast-feeding, that would be a good way.”

Not only is breast feeding a great way to drop that baby weight, but is also beneficial to your child’s health. Breast-fed children are significantly more likely to do well in measures of stereoscopic vision than are those who received formula during infancy, according to UK researchers. A new study gathered from tracking 2,000 US kids for the past five years suggests that hours of sleep matter. Children who got more sleep were less likely to be over weight compared to those who got fewer hours sleep.
An extra hour of sleep cut the likelihood of being overweight from 36 percent to 30 percent in children ages 3 to 8, and from 34 to 30 percent in those ages 8 to 13.
The researchers found that children who got less sleep were more likely to be overweight and have higher body mass index measures than those who got more sleep, even when factors such as race, ethnicity and parents’ income and educational level were considered.
To the parents of the world, PUT YOUR KIDS TO BED AT A REASONABLE HOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you know that more than 100 public schools in 26 states have adopted “Yoga Ed” into their PE classes and more than 300 PE instructors have been trained in it?
In 2004, Americans spent almost $3 billion on yoga classes and retreats, books, DVDs, mats, clothing and related items. About 3 million American adults practiced yoga at least twice a week in 2006, more than doubling from 1.3 million in 2001, according to Mediamark Research.

I would have loved physical education so much more as a kid if we had practiced yoga and so I just think that’s awesome. To read more about yoga in public schools CLICK HERE

Yesterday’s episode of Tyra was extremely eye opening for me. The show was about a group of young girls with negative body image issues. The girls were taped in a group interview with only Tyra in the room. All of the girls seemed afraid of becoming fat. I really believe this is a recap worth reading.
