Tonight’s E! News featured a segment on Hollywood revenge diets so I decided to take some notes. The focus was on four recent heartbreak victims Reese Witherspoon, Drew Barrymore, Carmen Electra, and Kate Hudson.

Reese Dropped 10 pounds and went from a size 6 to a size 2 after her October breakup from Ryan Phillipe. Her diet consists of a high fiber muffin for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, and salmon with veggies for dinner. When it comes to fitness Reese runs 3 miles each day and does yoga.

Drew Barrymore lost 20 pounds after her breakup with Fabrizio Moretti. She lost the weight eating cereal for breakfast, a chicken sandwich for lunch, and fish with veggies at dinner time. Drew says she does pig out sometimes but makes up for it by running 5 miles everyday and lifting weights 5 days a week.

Even Carmen Electra lost 10 pounds after her breakup with rocker Dave Navarro. She dropped the weight by avoiding all salt, oil and butter. Carmen also regularly participates in belly dancing, yoga and ballet classes to keep her body in tip top shape.

After Kate Hudson’s separating with husband Chris Robinson she toned up by dropping 10 pounds. Kate’s diet secrets include eating smaller portions and organic foods. She also stays in shape with stripper aerobics and running around after her 3 year old son Ryder.

I just saw this segment on Inside Edition about the diet pills made famous by Anna Nicole Smith. Smith, the spokeswomen for Trimspa’s add campaign, claims that she lost 69 pounds in just 8 months of taking the diet pill. However, two other women who were previously featured in advertising for the company claim that they were never once over weight and never even took the pill. The women also claim that they never agreed to endorse the company. Anna Nicole still insists she lost the weight by taking Trimspa. The whole thing seemed super sketchy and I would not advise wasting your money on such a scandalous product. No pill in the world can replace healthy diet and exercise.

6. Identify the times when you have the most difficulty following your weight management plan. Develop and write a “plan of action” for these times, so that you are mentally and physically prepared when they occur!

7. Watch out for “fat-free” products. With some products, the fat is often replaced with sugar, and it may contain just as many – if not more – calories! So it is always important to read food labels and exert calorie control! Source

Unless you’ve been living under a rock without cable television or human interaction you should know all about the Nintendo Wii video gaming system. The Wii is the first interactive gaming system of it’s kind. The system comes with the Wii Sports game that includes bowling, boxing, golf, baseball and tennis. Using the wireless remote simulates playing the sport by swinging, batting, pitching, etc… It’s really fun and gets your butt off the couch.

One guy decided to put the Wii to the test. He outlined a six week game plan for himself, the idea being that he would continue all normal activity and eating habits, but simply add 30 minutes of Wii Sports to his day. He started out at the 180 pounds (the weight he had been for the past 2 years) and throughout the month and a half he kept track of the following.

- Weight
- BMI
- Calories burned per session/per game
- Body fat %
- Heart Rate (at rest)
- Wii Fitness Age
- Additional Notes/Soreness

The result: He lost a total of 15 pounds in 41 days! Here are the before and after photos:

Gwen Stefani tells Elle magazine all about her baby weight!

On her public Pregnancy:

“It was weird being pregnant in a fishbowl situation. Especially on days when you feel really fat and disgusting and not cute. Pregnancy was challenging in a way I didn’t expect. I was on tour and I was so sick. It was like PMS times a million.”

On her baby weight:

“I worked out with my trainer throughout my whole pregnancy until about two weeks before. I cried during my last session. I was like, ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t do this anymore. What am I doing?’ It was crazy. All my life I had to work hard to stay in shape. I’ve always struggled with it. I was a little chubby when I was younger, and I didn’t want to be that person forever. I became a swimmer at school – but only because I wanted to be skinnier! I’m extremely vain. I like wearing cute clothes.”

On getting her body back:

“There aren’t any tricks, it’s simple math: you put this much food in, you burn that much working out. I gave myself three months – but if I didn’t have an album coming out, there’s no way I would have gotten back into shape in that time. I worked out with my trainer five days a week, with weekends off. I would really recommend doing weights. I’m not into yoga and pilates – they don’t work for me and I don’t have the patience. I’m more like a man. I like going to the gym and lifting weights or doing a little boxing.”

A new study proves that a calorie is a calorie. Eating less and exercising more burn an equal amount of fat.

They tested 24 people, 12 who ate a calorie-restricted diet, and 12 who dieted and also exercised five times a week for six months.

The dieters ate 25 percent less than normal, while the exercisers reduced their calorie intake by 12.5 percent and increased their physical activity to lose an extra 12.5 percent in calories.

An additional 10 volunteers acted as controls. All food was provided by the university in carefully measured portions for most of the study.

The volunteers in both groups lost about 10 percent of their body weight, 24 percent of their fat mass, and 27 percent of their abdominal visceral fat. Visceral fat is packed in between the internal organs and is considered the most dangerous type of fat, linked with heart disease and diabetes.

In 2004, Americans spent almost $3 billion on yoga classes and retreats, books, DVDs, mats, clothing and related items. About 3 million American adults practiced yoga at least twice a week in 2006, more than doubling from 1.3 million in 2001, according to Mediamark Research.
